State of the Union [****] <br />Un brexit marital

En otra oportunidad comenté que las series diferentes, con “uniqueness” dirían los ingleses, suman extra bonus. Y este podría ser el caso de State of the Union, que si bien no inventó la pólvora, se presenta en un paquete de consumo moderno, para ver en el celular de camino al trabajo, para ver un capítulo en el entretiempo del partido, ya que está armada en 10 episodios de sólo 10 minutos cada uno.

La cosa es así… Louise, interpretada por la británica Rosamund Pike (que recordarán por su papel de villana en James Bond Die Another Day; por el papel de Jane Bennet en Pride and Prejudice y por interpretar a Amy Dunne en Gone Girl) y Tom, encarnado por el comediante Chris O'Dowd (que conocimos como Roy Trenneman en la hilarante serie The IT Crowd) se acaban de separar y decidieron hacer terapia de pareja. La cita obligada es 10 minutos antes de cada sesión, en el bar que está cruzando la calle al consultorio, copa de por medio y listos para intercambiar afilados y mordaces comentarios como adelanto de una terapia que finalmente no veremos. 

Si no hablan sobre ellos, lo hacen sobre las caras que portan quienes salen del consultorio en la sesión anterior. De cualquier forma el comentario divierte y es gracias al guion de Nick Hornby (Fever Pitch, High Fidelity, About a Boy) y a la puesta en escena minimalista, casi teatral, de Stephen Frears (High Fidelity, Dangerous Liaisons, The Loudest Voice).

El lanzamiento de State of the Union fue en 2019 y Sundance Channel confirmó una segunda temporada, renovando la pareja protagónica por Patricia Clarkson (Sharp Objects) y Brendan Gleeson (The Comey Rule). Aprovechen para disfrutar con esta Notable [****] comedia corta, ideal para una maratón.
